
Word Mnemonic – MURIATIC
M – Malignant mouth ulcers
→ Deep, perforating ulcers with black base, foul odor, seen in diphtheria, scarlatina, cancer.
U – Unconscious with muttering
→ In typhoid states; patient appears unconscious but mutters or moans.
R – Rectal weakness
→ Hemorrhoids swollen, blue, extremely sensitive; prolapse during urination.
I – Involuntary stool
→ Stool passes while urinating or passing flatus.
A – Asthenic state (extreme weakness)
→ Profound debility; slides down in bed.
T – Tongue paralyzed
→ Dry, shriveled, leather-like tongue, difficulty speaking.
I – Intestinal ulceration
→ Ulcers with pseudo-membranous deposits in intestinal tract.
C – Cannot bear touch
→ Extreme sensitivity; cannot tolerate even bed-sheet touching genitals or hemorrhoids.

Patient slides down in bed from weakness.

Lower jaw hangs down.
Tongue and sphincter ani paralyzed.

Deep stupor with muttering.
Offensive involuntary stools while urinating.

Blue, swollen, very sensitive.
Cannot bear least touch, even the sheet.
